Exhibition as Catalogue from my own collection (Nat Pitt)

In 2013 I was lucky enough to meet the influential gallerist of six years and textiles collector Seth Siegelaub at De Appel in Amsterdam, and whilst the rest of my group went out for a cigarette I stayed behind with Seth, he asked me where I was from, I replied Birmingham, to which he replied, to my surprise and delight; “I know Birmingham well, there is a great Rag-Market there.” And. “I have, I had a good friend there who taught at the University, Stuart Hall” !!!

What a joining of minds.

Seth’s eponymous exhibition of January 5 - 31 1969 is an inspiration to this series of exhibitions and events where students, artists and galleries are invited to curate an exhibition as catalogue

January 5-31, 1969, Seth Siegelaub 1941–2013
spiral-bound printed paper : POA

This mock exhibition catalog is comprised of reproduced works by Robert Barry, Douglas Huebler, Joseph Kosuth and Lawrence Weiner and was published by Seth Siegelaub, New York.

If you will indulge me just two more name-drops, later in 2013 I was in the que for a book signing by Lucy Lippard on the occasion of her new book launch; ‘From Conceptualism to Feminism: Lucy Lippard’s Numbers Shows 1969–74,  I was in front of the amazing East International curator Lynda Morris who was somewhat annoyed by me taking up time in my re-telling of the Seth Siegelaub story (see above) just 3 or 4 weeks previous. Lynda Morris proclaimed, ‘come on, come on, you’re not a feminist!’ to which Lucy Lippard defended me ! :)
